Wairau Valley Special School is a specialist educational facility, with the base school and satellite classes situated on the North Shore, which caters for students from five to twenty one years of age with Intellectual disabilities, Multiple disabilities - sensory, intellectual and physical, Communication - language - speech delays, Behavioural problems, Learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental delay.

The aims and goals we have for our students can be encapsulated in our motto - EXPLORE - LEARN - SUCCEED. We are a school that recognizes achievement for all, celebrating success at all levels. The school focuses upon enriching activities across all curriculum areas based on careful multi-professional assessment of individual student's needs. We operate within an inclusive model, welcoming the community into the school and going out into the wider world where our pupils can extend their learning and social skills.
